Ryan, Adam and I went to see Snoop Dogg last Tuesday night at the Cain's Ballroom. It was part of this epic two-part concert experience I had planned for us. First night: Snoop, Second night: Amos Lee. (If you are familiar, you know these two are opposites.) We'd go on back to back weeknights- work for the man by day, live for music by night- yada yada. Unfortunately, Amos Lee was postponed due to all that snow, but Snoop Dogg seriously happened.
The guy is a gigantic popular culture icon. If someone this big comes to town, you support their choice by showing up. It's a social contract, as far as I am concerned.
I would be remiss not to mention that Snoop took three hours to come on stage- with only a short opener two hours before he came on stage. We settled in with our beers and waited it out. I don't want to condone the three hour tease, but I will admit we were more than ready for the show by that time. And I know I danced harder and yelled louder.
